Sean Stackpoole

Sean is an exceptionally talented performer who is equally at home in both the jazz and classical worlds.

Sean plays alto saxophone and flute on his debut CD "What's New". The CD is straight ahead jazz and contains both traditional jazz standards and original works. Sean has also authored the saxophone method book "Saxophone Basix" published by Alfred Publishing.

He has performed in the Monterey Jazz Festival and toured Japan. He has also performed with Joe Labarbara, Putter Smith, Eric Reed, Chris Dawson, Rita Moreno, Steve Allen, Bill Berry and Jack Sheldon.

Sean is a founding member of the City of Angeles Saxophone Quartet, with whom he was the recipient of the Coleman Chamber Music Award and the Monterey Bay Chamber Music Award. They have performed extensively in the US and toured Russia.

Sean is also an accomplished flutist and currently plays with the Santa Monica Symphony and is a founding member of the Avenel Chamber players Woodwind Sextet.

He has studied with Jerry Luedders, Gary Foster, Victor Morosco, Sarah Jackson and Jim Walker. Sean received his undergraduate degree from Cal State Northridge where he played lead alto in the “A” Band, 1st chair in the wind ensemble and was also a member of the Symphony.
